The Troubles That Never Came
Tucked beneath His care, I rest—unmoved by the storms that never came.
“Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7 BSB
Today’s devotional reminds me that many of the burdens I have carried were not mine to bear. The writer points to Nehemiah’s example: he did not allow fear or false accusations to disrupt his focus or draw him into unnecessary defenses—not even under the cover of prayer. Most of what troubles us doesn’t require our response. We stack up imagined scenarios, fret over future outcomes, and even spiritualize our worry. But God calls us to something far simpler and far freer—release. Rest. Like a bird tucked safely under His wing, we are invited to trust that He is already at work in all things for our good. The things that matter will always be met with His care.
Journal Entry (Voice of the Holy Spirit)
My child, you were never meant to carry the weight of outcomes. When your heart tightens with anxiety, I am already holding the answer. When you feel drawn into distractions or self-defense, I whisper, “Stay your course. I’ve got this.”Like Nehemiah, you can walk past every lie, every fear, and every needless obligation that tugs at your soul. You are free to ignore what I have not assigned.
You are hidden with Christ in Me, and that is your safe place (Colossians 3:3). I care for you—not just in the big matters, but in every anxious thought, every unspoken concern. Cast it all upon Me, not because you're supposed to, but because I really do care. Let Me sort it. You don't need to rehearse outcomes or anticipate what may never come.
You are My beloved, and I have given you this moment—not tomorrow, not yesterday—just this moment, to abide in Me and rest. Don’t fold your hands in resignation; fold your wings in trust.
Prayer of Trust
Father, You’ve already taken care of the unseen. You are the keeper of my peace and the guard over my heart. I choose right now to let go of every weight that You never asked me to carry. I release the imaginary worries, the false urgencies, the voices that distract and accuse. I trust that You care deeply, completely, and personally. Thank You for giving me rest as I abide in Christ, my refuge and peace.
