The Posture of Trust

"Faith is not striving but leaning—fully and quietly—on the One who has already provided all things in Christ."

Rest in God alone, O my soul, for my hope comes from Him. — Psalm 62:5 (BSB)

A.B. Simpson offers a picture of faith not as a wishful hoping but as a settled trust—a posture of spiritual confidence. To believe God for something means to relate to Him as if it is already ours because He has already said "yes" in Christ. This isn’t about forcing a feeling or claiming something out of thin air; it’s about recognizing our union with the One who isthe answer.

Just as a bride lives in the reality of a new name, home, and identity the moment vows are exchanged, we too are to live in the full expectation of who Christ is in us—our Savior, our Healer, our Life, our Everything. Once we receive Him in that role, we do not strive or second-guess, but simply rest in Him, trusting He will be to us all He says He is. It is not passive resignation, but an active leaning into His sufficiency.

This is faith at its most beautiful: leaning our full weight on the Beloved, not hedging our trust with backup plans, not begging Him for what He has already given, but praising as if we’ve already received—because in Christ, we have.

Beloved, I am your hope. Not a distant hope or a someday promise, but a present reality in whom you may rest right now. I have seated you with Christ in the heavenly realms and blessed you with every spiritual blessing in Him. You are no longer waiting for something to be given—you are learning to walk in what has already been bestowed.

Trust is your posture now. Cast every anxiety onto Me because I care for you. I did not invite you to worry, but to rest—rest in My arms, where you dwell in safety. I keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is fixed on Me, because that one trusts in Me. You are that one.

You walk by faith, not by sight, and faith sees what I have spoken as already yours. When you ask anything according to My will, know that I hear you—and because I hear you, you know that you possess what you have asked. Do not look to how things appear; look to who I am in you.

Let your heart settle into gratitude now. You do not need to strive. All that pertains to life and godliness has been granted through your knowledge of Me, the One who called you by My own glory and goodness. Live in the confidence of one who knows their name has been changed, their home has been made with Me, and their life is hidden with Christ in God.

Walk forward as if the door is already open—for in Me, it is.

Prayer of Confident Trust

Lord, I rest in You. You are not holding back anything from me. You have given me Yourself, and in You I lack nothing. I don’t wait in anxiety or doubt—I wait in quiet assurance, knowing that You are always faithful. Today I live as one who has received, because You have said it is so. I praise You not for what might be, but for what already is mine in Christ. Let Your life in me express itself in peaceful trust, expectant joy, and a heart full of praise.

Amen.
