His Workmanship for His Purpose
📖 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. —Ephesians 2:10
Grace is not only God’s kindness in forgiving our sins; it is also His power at work in us, shaping us for His purposes. We are not left to figure out how to serve Him by our own wisdom or effort. Rather, He is the master craftsman, skillfully fashioning us into vessels suited for His work.
Salvation is entirely a gift of grace, not earned through human effort (Ephesians 2:9). Yet, once we are born anew in Christ, we are designed for good works that He has already prepared. We are not called to manufacture a life of purpose, but to step into the works He has arranged.
A skilled composer does not leave a musician to create their own notes but provides a written score, allowing the player to express the melody as it was intended. In the same way, God has already composed the works He desires for us to walk in. As we trust Him moment by moment, yielding to His leading, we find ourselves moving in harmony with His divine orchestration.
When asked about the works of God, Jesus pointed to faith: “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent” (John 6:29). True service flows from trust—resting in Christ to express His life through us. The early church demonstrated this, witnessing with great power because “great grace was upon them all” (Acts 4:33). It was not their striving but His presence that accomplished the work.
Prayer of Confidence
Father, You have masterfully formed us in Christ for the works You have already planned. We rest in Your perfect design, trusting that as we walk with You, every step is guided by Your wisdom. Thank You for shaping our lives to reflect Your glory. We embrace the path You have prepared, knowing that Your grace empowers each work You have set before us. Amen.
