Constant Care
Nestled beneath the softness of His wings, I remember—I am never not cared for.
Today's Abide Above devotional draws us into the intimate, unbroken care of our Lord. J.B.S. beautifully reminds us that the Lord doesn’t merely forgive our sins—He lives in us and cares for us every second. It’s not a general or distant concern; it’s as if each of us were His only child.
Many of us live with a subtle but constant unrest, unknowingly disconnected from this truth. That unsettled feeling we carry? It often springs from forgetting that we’re under His wings—not metaphorically only, but spiritually and literally, hidden in Christ with God. When we forget His moment-by-moment care, we try to walk in our own energy. No wonder we stumble.
O.S. adds another layer: our walk of faith means we can’t always see where we're going. The land we’re heading toward is not always visible, but the Shepherd is near. And that’s the real comfort. If we’ve truly left our old ways behind, if we’re walking by faith and not by sight, then our expectations may seem delayed—but His fulfillment will always exceed them.
The invitation today is not just to know we’re under His wings, but to draw near—to creep into the softness of His feathers, into the down, where even the storm is muffled by His care. Isaiah reminds us: Jesus isn’t just a refuge; He is the safe place Himself.
Personalized Journal Entry: In the Holy Spirit’s Voice Through Scripture
I have drawn you near with cords of love, not to place burdens upon you but to carry you in the gentleness of My wings. You were weary, but I brought you into the cleft of the Rock, and I have hidden you there, where no enemy can reach and no fear can endure. My eyes are always on you, and My heart beats with eternal care for you.
I have not only rescued you from sin—I live in you, and I walk every step through you. You are not alone in the journey, even when you cannot see the road ahead. I go before you to prepare the way, and I remain behind to guard you. I am your rear guard. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so I surround you, shielding you with My peace.
You often look to your own understanding and feel the weight of what’s next. But lean not on your own reasoning. Trust Me with all your heart, and I will make your path straight. I did not ask you to feel your way forward; I asked you to rest in Me, to let your soul settle into the warmth of My care, to listen to My voice above the wind.
I am your hiding place. In the heat, I am your shade. In the dryness, I am your river. In the storm, I am the man who shelters you. Come into the down, draw close, and rest. Let your soul be quieted like a child with its mother. For under My wings, you have come to trust, and under My wings, you shall remain.

Prayer
Lord, I trust You. Not only with my past and my eternity—but with this very moment. I rejoice that I don’t have to wonder whether You are watching or waiting for me to measure up. You are not a distant observer but the indwelling Life who walks with me, speaks within me, and cares for me with a love that never wavers. I gladly rest in the shelter of Your wings today—not striving to see the path, but delighting in the One who walks it with me. Thank You that it’s not up to me to forge ahead; it is You who carries me, guides me, and lives through me. I am safe. I am held. I am home.
