Insight Into the Only Fascination

When our eyes are opened to see Christ clearly, everything else fades into its proper place.

In today’s entry from My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers reflects on the moment Paul regained his sight, not only physically but spiritually. Paul didn’t just open his eyes to the world again—he opened his soul to the living Christ. That vision became the guiding flame for the rest of his life. Everything else lost its charm. His fascination, his message, his identity—all were consumed with Christ.

Chambers points out that this kind of spiritual insight—seeing Christ for who He truly is—isn’t a mere experience to remember fondly. It’s a vision that transforms. Once seen, it demands to be lived. The person who truly sees Jesus can no longer divide their attention between Him and lesser pursuits. Their life becomes singular in focus, passionately infused with Christ’s purposes.

The marker of spiritual maturity, Chambers says, is whether this insight leads to application. The spiritual man or woman is not defined by their knowledge but by the daily outworking of a Christ-centered life. If something else still holds your fascination, Chambers reminds us, it’s not maturity that’s missing—it’s spiritual sight.

Journal Entry — In the Voice of the Holy Spirit

I gave you eyes to see Me, not just once, but continually. As I opened Paul’s eyes and flooded his soul with light, so I have opened yours. The moment you glimpsed My Son—not just as Savior but as all in all—your world shifted. You were no longer tethered to empty distractions. You were drawn into a deeper center, where Christ alone holds sway.

I have made Jesus your life, not your hobby. His presence within you is not a compartment of your day, but the heart of your existence. He is the radiance that defines your direction, the wisdom that reframes your desires. Just as Paul preached Christ because Christ became his consuming vision, I have made you a vessel to carry that same flame into every conversation, every decision, every quiet moment.

Don’t be troubled when the world tries to dazzle you again. Its charm is a shadow compared to the brilliance of the One you’ve seen. You are not double-minded. You have been made new. The fascination of your soul is no longer divided—it is fixed on the Lamb who was slain, risen, and now lives in you.

Let this vision of Jesus shape not only your mind but your movements. Apply Him. Express Him. Speak of Him with joy, not effort. Walk with Him as the One you adore. You’ve been given insight not merely to admire but to embody. I am faithful to continue revealing more of Christ as you continue walking by faith, not by the flickering images of this world.

Let the world chase its fascinations. You have found the One who satisfies.

Prayer of Confident Trust

Father, thank You for opening my eyes to see Jesus—not just once, but over and over again. I rest in the truth that this vision has changed me forever. The fleeting glitter of the world no longer draws my heart, for You have given me something infinitely more captivating: Christ in me. I rejoice that He is not only my Redeemer but the very life I now live. I walk today in light of that insight—confident, not in my ability to see, but in Your faithful revealing. Let every glance of my heart fall again and again on the beauty of Your Son, for He is my delight, my message, and my life.
