The Threefold Blessing of the Trinity (Part 1)

“Resting beneath the smiling countenance of the Trinity.”

Scripture: Numbers 6:23–26

Today’s entry from eManna draws us into the richness of God’s blessing as expressed in the priestly benediction of Numbers 6—a blessing that is deeply Trinitarian in nature. Though the Old Testament didn’t articulate the Trinity in the way the New Testament would later reveal, we now see that this threefold blessing hints at the full fellowship of Father, Son, and Spirit.

First, “Jehovah bless you and keep you” points us to God the Father—the source of all blessing and our keeper in every moment. He initiates blessing, provides shelter, and watches over His people with unwavering care.

Second, “Jehovah make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you” speaks of the Son, Jesus, whose face is the shining of God’s glory. The Hebrew word for grace here pictures a royal figure stooping down to show kindness to one beneath them. This beautifully captures the Incarnation—Christ stepping down from His throne, taking on flesh, and dwelling among us, pouring out grace on the undeserving.

Finally, “Jehovah lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace” speaks of the Spirit, who communicates the Father and the Son’s presence to us. His gaze isn’t one of judgment but of delight, and in that gaze, we receive a peace that roots us—not just circumstantially, but deep within our soul, mind, and heart.

The devotional emphasizes that God’s blessing isn’t merely about material comfort or circumstantial ease—it’s about being drawn into His presence and wrapped in His delight. This blessing is the enjoyment of God Himself. As New Covenant priests, we live in this reality today—not only being blessed but becoming channels of blessing to others through our union with Christ.

Journal Entry – In the Holy Spirit’s Voice Through Scripture

I have brought you into My presence, not as a visitor but as one who belongs. I have called you by name, and you are Mine. I bless you with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, for you are seated with Me in Christ. The eyes of the Father rest upon you with favor, not because of your performance but because you are in the Beloved.

I keep you—yes, I guard your heart and preserve your spirit. My hand surrounds you behind and before. When you lie down, I am with you; when you rise, I am your guide. Even in the valley, you are not alone, for My rod and staff comfort you.

The face of My Son shines upon you. He stooped to you—not in pity but in divine kindness, embracing your humanity to clothe you in His divinity. Grace and truth came through Him, and now grace flows to you moment by moment, not as a mere idea but as the Person of Christ living in you.

I lift up My countenance upon you with joy, not with weariness or disappointment. My Spirit within you communes with your spirit, assuring you that you are a child of God. I bring you peace—not only in the storm but also in the stillness. It is peace that surpasses understanding, guarding your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. You are never out of My sight. Never out of My care. Never separated from My love.

You dwell in My smile. Rest in it.

Prayer

Father, You have not merely blessed me with things; You’ve blessed me with Yourself. Today I rest in the fullness of this threefold embrace—the Father’s keeping, the Son’s gracious gaze, and the Spirit’s peaceful presence. I trust You to express this blessing through me to others, not from effort, but from overflow. Thank You for the smile of Your countenance that never fades. I rest in it, I rejoice in it, and I walk in it.
