Our God Reigns

📖 Scripture:
"How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, 'Your God reigns!'"
Isaiah 52:7

Many live as though God has stepped away from His throne, as if the chaos of the world signals His resignation. But Scripture declares the opposite—Our God reigns! His sovereignty has never wavered, nor has His care for His people diminished. The trials we face, the uncertainties that loom, and the pressures of life do not alter this reality.

Israel stood at the Red Sea, an army closing in behind them, with no apparent escape. Panic seemed reasonable. But God's command was not to flee in fear but to stand firm and watch His deliverance (Exodus 14:13). He had already gone before them, and He was their rear guard. Their role was simple: trust Him.

We, too, are called to rest in this unshakable truth. The world's shifting tides and fleeting assurances hold no weight against the eternal reign of God. He has set us apart, not to chase the empty pursuits of the world, but to walk in confidence, knowing He is leading the way. The way forward is not found in striving but in trusting. The One who reigns also carries us through.

A Reflection

  • Do you ever find yourself living as though God has resigned instead of reigning?

  • In what areas of your life is He inviting you to stand firm, rather than react in fear?

  • How does knowing that He goes before you and stands behind you change your perspective today?

A Prayer of Trust

Father, we rejoice in the certainty that You reign. Nothing catches You off guard, nothing shakes Your throne, and nothing is beyond Your wisdom and power. You go before us, You stand behind us, and we lack nothing in Your care. Today, we walk in confidence, knowing that Your presence surrounds us. May our lives declare the good news—not just in word, but in the steadfast assurance that Our God reigns!
