Living by Faith: Drawing from the Abundance of Grace

“Through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand…therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace… 'the just shall live by faith.'"
(Romans 5:2; 4:16; 1:17)

Every moment of the Christian life is an invitation to trust the Lord—to step out in faith and receive the abundance of His grace. The grace in which we stand is not a one-time experience but a continual reality, accessed only through faith. Just as we first entered into salvation by trusting in Christ, so too do we walk in the fullness of life by faith, drawing from His inexhaustible supply.

Grace is never something we can manufacture, earn, or supplement with our own efforts. It is God’s gift, freely given, that transforms and sustains us. The law, by contrast, operates on a system of human striving—do this, achieve that, meet the standard. But grace flows only through faith, and faith looks away from self to Christ, resting in what He has already provided.

Imagine standing before an endless banquet table, fully prepared by the Lord, offering everything needed for life and godliness. The meal has already been served; our role is simply to partake—to trust that what He has set before us is sufficient. Whether we face routine responsibilities or unexpected challenges, whether we rise in the morning or close our eyes at night, grace is there, available, waiting to be received by faith.

The just shall live by faith. Not occasionally. Not only in crisis. But in every step, every breath, every moment. The life we live is not our own; it is Christ living through us as we trust Him.

Prayer of Confidence

Father, I thank You for the grace in which I stand, fully provided through Christ. I trust You today and every day to be my sufficiency, my wisdom, and my strength. You have given me all I need for life and godliness, and I walk forward in faith, knowing that Your grace is abundant and Your provision is sure. My life is Yours, and I rest in the reality that You are working in and through me. Amen.
