Grow to Share
π βFor they disciplined us only a short time, as it seemed proper to them; but He does it for our good, in order that we may share His holy character.β β Hebrews 12:10 (WMS)
Spiritual maturity is not something we attain instantly. The Holy Spirit does not simply hand us victory but leads us through a process of growth, teaching us endurance and shaping us to reflect Christ. If change came too quickly, we would remain unprepared for the weight of His calling and unable to walk in wisdom and grace toward others.
Think of a deep-sea diver. Before venturing into great depths, a diver must undergo pressurization training. If they ascend too quickly after being submerged, their body cannot handle the change, leading to dangerous consequences. In the same way, God increases our capacity for His life by taking us through experiences that prepare us to stand firm in Him. He does not rush the process, because He is establishing in us a strength that lasts.
When Israel entered the Promised Land, God did not clear the land all at once. βBy little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increasedβ (Exodus 23:29-30). Likewise, He strengthens us step by step, expanding our ability to receive and share His life. What may seem like delay is His intentional work, ensuring that we grow into all He has prepared for us.
π βNow for the time being no discipline [child-training] seems to be pleasant; it is painful; later on, however, to those who are trained by it, it yields the fruit of peace which grows from upright character.β β Hebrews 12:11 (WMS)
Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You for working in us according to Your perfect wisdom. You have given us everything in Christ, and we trust the process by which You are shaping us. We embrace each step, knowing You are deepening our capacity to walk in the fullness of Your life. You are never late, never mistaken, and never unkind. We rest in Your faithful hand. Amen.
