Have I Seen Him?

“When Jesus appears, we walk through the mist with eyes wide open to the Invisible.”

Oswald Chambers invites us to distinguish between knowing about Jesus and actually seeing Him. Many believers have received God’s grace—they have trusted Christ's finished work—but they may not have truly seen Jesus. They may love the gifts of salvation, the healing, the provision, and the peace—but they have not yet looked into His face.

Chambers reminds us that when Jesus reveals Himself, it changes everything. This encounter is not just intellectual or emotional; it’s spiritual. It surpasses the memory of what He has done and fixes our gaze upon the Living Christ Himself. Moses endured, not because of a memory of a miracle, but because he saw Him who is invisible. When Jesus appears, He makes Himself known in deeply personal ways. We do not control the timing of these revelations—they are gifts of grace. But once seen, we are never the same.

Chambers also reflects on how others may not believe us when we speak of this kind of encounter. And that’s okay. We cannot make someone else see Jesus—only God opens spiritual eyes. Our task is simply to continue telling what we’ve seen, like those disciples on the Emmaus road who returned to share their joy, even though the others didn’t believe.

The heart of this devotional is about spiritual sight—about living from a gaze fixed not on what He’s done but on who He is.

A Journal Entry in the Holy Spirit’s Voice Through Scripture

I have opened your eyes to behold the beauty of the Lord in the land of the living. You have tasted and seen that the Lord is good, and now you abide not merely in knowledge of My works but in fellowship with Me, the Living One. Your eyes have been enlightened to see the hope to which you were called, the riches of your glorious inheritance in Christ, and the immeasurable greatness of My power toward you who believe.

You walk by faith, not by sight, yet you see with unveiled face the glory of the Lord, being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. The eyes of your heart have been opened to behold the One who loved you and gave Himself for you. You see Me not through the lens of others’ testimonies but through your union with Me. And you remain unshaken, for your gaze is no longer on shifting circumstances, but on Me, the Author and Finisher of your faith.

There will be others who do not yet see. Continue to speak of Me. You are not the light, but you bear witness to the Light. Keep walking with Me and let Me appear to them as I once appeared to you. My sheep hear My voice; I know them, and they follow Me. When I appear, you shall see Me as I am, and you will be like Me, for you are already Mine.

My Prayer

Lord, I trust You for what I now see with the eyes of my heart—You are not only the Savior who gave His life for me, but the Lord who lives His life in me. I thank You for revealing Yourself, not through mystical experience or fleeting emotion, but through the steady unveiling of Your life within mine. I rest in the joy of this union, knowing that I walk not by sight, yet I see You. I trust You to continue revealing Yourself to others in Your perfect timing. Until then, I will keep speaking of You with grace, with gentleness, and with joy.
