Grace-Empowered Proclamation of the Risen Christ
"Just as the sun rises faithfully every day, Christ's resurrection power shines faithfully in our lives."
The heart of today's Day by Day by Grace devotional centers on a truth that was foundational for the early church: the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was not merely an event recorded in history but the dynamic, life-giving reality that transformed timid men into bold witnesses. From the Lord’s Supper to Pentecost and beyond, the resurrection wasn’t just implied or documented—it was powerfully proclaimed. It became the unstoppable message of the apostles, energized not by human strength, but by divine grace.
At Pentecost, Peter stood fearlessly before crowds and boldly declared the resurrection of Jesus. He did not shy away from stating plainly that the One crucified by human hands was raised to life by the power of God. This wasn't a quiet assertion; it was an authoritative proclamation that resonated deeply with power and conviction. The apostles' testimony was unwavering, constantly highlighting that Jesus, the Prince of Life, conquered death and now lives forever.
Even amid persecution, the message remained unchanged. Peter and the others were arrested for speaking boldly of Jesus’ resurrection. Yet, far from discouraging their message, this persecution only amplified their proclamation. Miracles confirmed their words, as seen in the healing of the lame man at the temple gate. Peter boldly declared to the amazed crowds that it was the risen Christ Himself who healed this man, affirming once more that Christ’s resurrection was real and active.
The source of this boldness wasn't personal bravery or natural eloquence—it was the extraordinary grace of God resting upon these early believers. God’s grace was their empowerment, allowing them to bear witness courageously and effectively. Grace and resurrection are forever bound together; grace provides both the message and the strength to share it clearly, joyfully, and without compromise. This reality of Christ's resurrection is still our message today, transforming hearts and lives as powerfully now as it did then.
