Being a Priest of God
“As Melchizedek once brought bread and wine, we now bring Christ’s presence—inviting others to draw near to God.”

This devotional beautifully highlights the first recorded blessing in Scripture: Melchizedek’s blessing of Abraham. Melchizedek, who is both king and priest, prefigures Christ—our eternal High Priest. He came with bread and wine, a symbol that reaches into the New Covenant as Christ offers His very life to us in communion.
But what makes this blessing remarkable is not just the symbols or titles, but the function of a priest. A priest doesn’t just represent people to God; he bridges the gap. He brings people into God’s presence, eliminating the distance created by sin, fear, or confusion.
The writer is calling us to recognize that we, too, are priests in Christ. If we desire to bless others in this life, we must first live close to God. Our intimacy with Him allows us to draw others into His presence. Blessing, then, is not merely about kind words or generous acts—it is the overflow of a life lived in union with God that brings others near to Him.
Personalized Journal Entry in the Holy Spirit’s Voice Through Scripture
You are My royal priest, chosen and holy, set apart to proclaim the excellencies of the One who called you out of darkness into marvelous light. You have received mercy, and now you carry that mercy into the lives of others. You are not merely observing from a distance—you are invited into the Most Holy Place, bold and unashamed, because the blood has made you clean.
In Me, you are part of a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God—not from effort, but from union. I have made you a minister of reconciliation. You no longer function in the oldness of the letter but in the newness of the Spirit. You bring peace, not by your words, but by the indwelling Presence that flows through you.
You are not lacking anything. All that pertains to life and godliness is yours through the knowledge of Him who called you. You share in the heavenly calling. You do not need to climb toward heaven to access My presence; you are already seated there in Christ. From this place of rest, you serve—not with striving hands, but with a heart that yields.
As you walk in My presence, I will make your life a living invitation. Bread and wine will flow through you—not symbols only, but the very life of Christ, nourishing and drawing others home.

Prayer
Father, thank You for placing me in Christ and making me a priest in Your presence—not by lineage or law, but by Your grace. I trust that as I remain in You, Your life will naturally draw others closer to You. I rest in the truth that Your Spirit in me is more than enough to bless those around me. Let this union bear fruit today in unseen and seen ways. I walk into this day not seeking to become something, but as one who already is—loved, equipped, and in communion with You. Thank You for the bread and wine that remind me of this eternal priesthood I now share in Christ.
