Trust Him Always
"Stepping into freedom by trusting His promise alone."
Today's devotional from Days of Heaven reminds me of the beauty and freedom that we as believers have in Christ through the new covenant—a covenant God promised long ago, rooted deeply in His unchanging faithfulness. It highlights the profound contrast between trying to fulfill God’s righteousness by striving in our own strength under the law, and simply trusting Christ’s grace, which freely bestows upon us His very righteousness.
The writer passionately encourages us to let go of our attempts to please God through our self-effort and legalistic striving, as this only empowers sin’s dominion. Instead, the victory we long for—the inner freedom and joyful holiness—comes when we fully trust Christ, receiving and resting in His absolute and unconditional gift of righteousness. This, he reminds us, is the core promise of the Gospel and the heartbeat of the new covenant: Christ Himself promises not merely to instruct us externally, but to inwardly inscribe His law upon our hearts. He has personally undertaken the responsibility to produce in us what we could never achieve on our own: genuine righteousness in thoughts, desires, and actions.
This promise, the devotional writer recalls, stretches all the way back to Abraham—a promise of deliverance from enemies and the freedom to serve God without fear or condemnation, dwelling daily in His holiness and righteousness. God Himself swore this covenant, and He is utterly faithful to keep it. Our role is simply to trust Him continually, confidently expecting Him to fulfill in us what He has already guaranteed through His eternal word.
Personalized Journal Entry in the Holy Spirit’s Voice (Scripture)
I have loved you with an everlasting love, and drawn you with lovingkindness. Before the foundation of the world, I chose you in Christ to be holy and blameless in My sight. You have been crucified with Christ, and you no longer live, but Christ lives in you. The life you now live in your body, you live by faith in My Son, who loved you and gave Himself for you. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear; instead, you received the Spirit of sonship, and by Me, you cry out, "Abba, Father."
I am faithful to My covenant; I will put My law within you and write it on your heart. I Myself will move you to follow My decrees and cause you to be careful to keep My laws. My divine power has already given you everything you need for life and godliness, through your knowledge of Him who called you by His own glory and goodness. Rest assured, the One who calls you is faithful, and I will surely do it.
Sin shall not be your master, for you are not under law but under grace. Therefore, stand firm in the freedom for which Christ has set you free, and do not let yourself be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Abide in Me, as I abide in you; apart from Me, you can do nothing. But in Me, you bear much fruit—fruit that lasts, to My Father’s glory.
So trust in Me with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. Acknowledge Me in all your ways, and I will make your paths straight. For I am working in you to will and to act according to My good purpose. I am your peace; I have already overcome the world. So, let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid.

Prayer
Father, today my heart is overflowing with gratitude for the certainty and beauty of Your covenant with me in Christ. How amazing it is to live in the truth that You have placed Your righteousness and holiness within me, not because of anything I've done, but purely out of Your grace and faithfulness. I confidently trust Your Spirit to continually express Your life through me, fulfilling Your promise to produce genuine holiness in my thoughts, feelings, and actions. Your faithfulness removes every fear, every striving, every insecurity. You've freed me from the bondage of self-effort and legalism, and now I joyfully live in the simplicity of trusting Christ moment by moment. Thank You for making me eternally secure in Your love, never wavering from Your promises, and always leading me to rest and rejoice in Christ alone. Amen.
