A Message from the Scriptures for a Friend Who is Harassed by the Fear of Death
I have not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. You are no longer in bondage to the fear of death, for through My Son, I have destroyed the one who held its power. You are free. You are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir—sealed for the day of redemption.
Your heart does not need to struggle to believe what I have already accomplished. Faith is not an effort of the mind, but a response to My truth. Do not lean on your own understanding, but acknowledge Me, and I will make your path straight. I am the resurrection and the life—whoever believes in Me will live, even if he dies. And everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?
Fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. I have given you My Spirit as a guarantee, a down payment of the life to come. You do not walk by sight or by feelings, but by faith. Do not say, “My heart does not believe,” for I have written My truth upon your heart. The enemy whispers doubt, but My Word is steadfast. I have given you eternal life, and you shall never perish; no one can snatch you out of My hand.
Do not wait for the waters to part before you step forward—step forward, knowing that I am faithful. When you walk through the waters, I am with you; when you pass through the fire, you will not be burned. Death has no hold over you, for I have swallowed it up in victory. O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?
You believe—therefore, walk in it. The righteous live by faith, not by sight. Take up the shield of faith, and silence the lies of the accuser. My perfect love casts out fear. The life you now live, live by faith in My Son, who loved you and gave Himself for you. I will complete the good work I have begun in you. Be still, and know that I am God.
