Going with Jesus
Walking with Christ is not about knowing every step ahead—it is about trusting the One who leads the way.
Insights from Oswald Chambers
Summary of the Devotional:
Oswald Chambers presents a stark reality in today’s reading—following Jesus is not just about knowing Him intellectually or even serving in His name; it is about absolute oneness with Him. Many of His disciples walked away, not because they denied His teaching, but because they lost the reckless abandon that intimacy with Him demands. Jesus does not ask us to strategize or strive in our own wisdom. Instead, He asks for our complete dependence. When we maintain that oneness with Him, we cease from self-effort and allow Him to accomplish His purposes through us. It is not about understanding every step of the journey; it is about trusting the One who leads it.
A Journal Entry:
Lord, I do not walk this path alone; You are the very life within me. This journey is not about my plans, my methods, or my striving—it is about resting in Your perfect sufficiency. The world clamors for direction, strategies, and tangible results, but You call me to something far greater: abiding in You.
How often have I complicated the simplicity of being one with You? The flesh wants formulas, but You have given me Yourself. I yield to You, trusting that my steps are ordered because You are the One taking them. I refuse to turn away, to shrink back into self-reliance, or to analyze the journey as if it depended on me. You are my certainty. My life is hidden in You, and that is enough.
Let others chase security in their own wisdom; I have found mine in You. You are my confidence, my direction, my sufficiency. There is no greater joy than knowing that I am never apart from You. If the road ahead is uncertain, it only means that I am exactly where I need to be—trusting in the One who knows the way.
Prayer:
Father, I rejoice in the oneness You have given me with Christ. I thank You that I do not have to navigate this life by my own understanding, for Christ is my wisdom. I trust in Your perfect leading, knowing that You will accomplish all that You desire in and through me. I rest in the sufficiency of Christ within, confident that as I abide, You bring forth the fruit. Thank You that I am never alone, never without direction, and never lacking—because You are my life. Amen.
