Wings for the Quiet Road
Even at low tide, the ocean is just as full. So is God’s joy in you—even when you're walking, not flying.

A.B. Simpson draws our attention to a beautiful and often misunderstood pattern in our walk with God. So many long for the soaring moments—the times when we “mount up with wings like eagles”—forgetting that these are not the norm but the preparation. They’re grace-filled seasons that give way to the more ordinary paths of running without growing weary and walking without fainting.
Simpson likens these seasons to the tides. Joy may ebb and flow, but God’s fullness remains, just like the sea is never less deep at low tide. The point isn’t to chase constant excitement, but to live rooted in faithful, trusting service—confident that God will stir up joy when it's needed. Even when we’re simply walking, putting one foot in front of the other, His joy quietly surrounds us. It’s not always loud, but it’s always present.
We are invited to let go of the need to measure or manufacture spiritual highs. Instead, we rest in His love, remain available for His leading, and serve faithfully, moment by moment. And as we do, we’ll hear that inner whisper—not necessarily now, but in His time—“Well done... enter into the joy of your Lord.”
📖 Journal Entry — In the Voice of the Holy Spirit
You are not forgotten on the quiet days. I delight in you just as much when your soul is still and steady as when it soars in praise. My strength is not reserved for the mountaintop—it flows like breath through your walk, your run, your stillness. You were created to mount up, yes—but also to move forward when the wind is still.
The wings I give are not only for flight, but for lifting the weight of weariness on the long road. My joy in you does not depend on tides or tremors, for I have poured My Spirit into your heart as a river that does not run dry. Even when your emotions are still, even when the spring feels hidden, My grace is in full bloom within you.
You are safe to trust Me with your pace. When it is time to run, you will not tire. When it is time to walk, you will not faint. When you wait, your renewal is in progress. I take pleasure in your trust, in your faithfulness, in your quiet yes.
Let the world chase excitement—I offer something better: endurance wrapped in joy, steadiness embraced by love, glory in every unseen step. This is how I carry you forward—wings for the journey, not just for the moment.

🙏 My Prayer of Trust
Father, I praise You for being just as present in the quiet walking as in the soaring moments. You have not designed me to live on a mountaintop but to journey in union with Christ—sometimes lifted high, and other times placing one foot in front of the other on a familiar path.
Today, I trust You with my pace. I receive the grace that renews me even when I don’t feel it. Whether I run or walk, I know You go before me, and I lack nothing in You. Even when joy seems quiet, I remember that Your love is never absent. Thank You for being the unchanging sea beneath every tide.
