Waiting on God: Resting in His Perfect Timing

📖 "Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him." —Psalm 37:7

We are often tempted to act in haste when faced with uncertainty. The pressure to resolve a crisis or secure an outcome can feel overwhelming, just as Saul felt when he saw his army scattering and chose to act apart from God’s command (1 Sam. 13:11-12). But Scripture reminds us that waiting is not inactivity—it is trust. Jesus did not rush to His disciples in the storm but came to them in the fourth watch of the night, at precisely the right moment (Matt. 14:25).

To wait on the Lord is to rest in His sufficiency, not straining to manufacture our own solutions. Victory is never achieved by anxious striving but by standing in the certainty of what God has already accomplished. We are not called to fight for victory, but to fight the good fight of faith—a faith that stands in the victory already won in Christ. Faith does not measure the storm but fixes its gaze upon the One who commands the waves.

A child sitting in a darkened room may be unsettled at first, but when he remembers that his father is in the next room, his fear fades. Nothing about the situation has changed, except where his confidence rests. So it is with us. Our circumstances do not define our security—God does. Waiting on Him is not passive hesitation; it is active dependence. It is knowing that He is never late, that His care is unwavering, and that His presence is our peace.

"My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him." —Psalm 62:5

Prayer of Confidence

Father, we rest in You, knowing that Your timing is perfect and Your ways are sure. You have already secured our victory in Christ, and we trust You to reveal Your plans in the right moment. We refuse to be swayed by fear or urgency, for our expectation is from You alone. You are never late, never indifferent, and never absent. Thank You for being our peace in the waiting. Amen.
