The Lord’s Commission

“Anointed and Appointed: Jesus, the Christ, lives His mission through me.”

Today's reflection unveils a crucial truth: to recognize Jesus as the Christ is not merely to acknowledge His identity—it is to recognize His commission. Saul’s immediate proclamation in the synagogues that this One is the Son of God was more than a change of mind; it was the result of a heavenly unveiling. What had been zealously resisted by Saul in his blindness became his clearest vision—Jesus is both Son of God and the Christ, God’s anointed and appointed One.

The term Christ is not Jesus’ last name; it is His calling. He is the Anointed One, the singular fulfillment of God’s eternal purpose. When Peter declared, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God,” he wasn’t just identifying Jesus’ divine nature—he was also recognizing His divine mission. This twofold revelation—of who Jesus is and what He came to do—is foundational for every believer.

The early Saul, later known as Paul, was entrusted with a revelation that shifted everything. He came to see that Jesus was not a rogue teacher or political threat, but the embodiment of God’s eternal plan. From that moment on, Paul’s message wasn’t just theological—it was transformational. He boldly declared the mystery unveiled: that Jesus, the crucified and risen One, is the fulfillment of all that God intended. The Spirit who commissioned Christ now indwells us, that the mission might continue not by might, nor by power, but by His life within.

Personalized Journal Entry in the Voice of the Holy Spirit:

I have opened your eyes as I did with Saul, who once walked in blindness but now sees with a clarity not of man’s wisdom but by revelation from above. You too have beheld the Christ—not merely as Savior but as the Anointed One who carries the full commission of the Father’s will. In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, and you have been brought to fullness in Him.

He did not come to start a religion but to fulfill all righteousness, to reconcile all things to Himself by the blood of the cross. This Jesus whom you proclaim is not only the Lamb of God who takes away sin, but the appointed One who now lives in you, to carry out the Father’s purpose through your yielded life. The same Spirit that descended upon Him like a dove now abides in you without measure, that the world may know the Son has been sent and that He is still at work through His Body.

The Christ now lives in you—the hope of glory. I have commissioned Him, and in Him, you are also commissioned. You are not your own. You have been bought with a price, not to perform but to proclaim, not by striving but by abiding. Walk as one who has seen the Anointed One. Speak as one who knows the commission is not yours to complete, but His to fulfill through you. Just as Paul reasoned boldly, so will you—by My power, not your intellect. For I do not dwell in temples made by hands, but in vessels consecrated by grace.

The Christ who was crucified now lives, and that life is yours. From My fullness, you receive grace upon grace, and through you I will make Him known.

Prayer:

Father, what a joy it is to know that Jesus is the Christ—not just in name, but in mission. I rest today in the certainty that the same One You anointed to fulfill Your eternal purpose now lives in me, and His work continues through my yielded life. I’m not looking for a task to accomplish—I’m looking to abide in the One who has already completed the work and now lives it out through me. Thank You for opening my eyes, just as You did with Saul, to see not only who Jesus is, but what His life means in me. I walk forward today with confidence—not in myself, but in the One who is commissioned and victorious. Amen.
