The Decision Has Been Made

The prison door has been opened—walk out into the light of His life.

Oswald Chambers presses into a decisive question today: Have I come to a settled, moral decision about sin? He is not speaking about behavior modification or progressive improvement, but about a crisis point—a crossroad moment—where we see sin not as something to manage but something to crucify. Chambers references Romans 6:6, where Paul doesn’t theorize about sin’s defeat but declares it accomplished: our old self was crucified with Christ.

This devotional isn’t a call to do better. It’s a call to recognize that God has already done it—sin has been condemned in the body of Jesus Christ. But for this to become experiential and real in us, we must agree with God’s verdict about the flesh. It’s not that we ask God to suppress our fleshly desires or help us improve; instead, we reckon it dead—because it was crucified. Chambers makes it clear: we don’t need to wait for another deliverance. The death of the old man happened at the Cross, and we now live from Christ’s indwelling life.

He challenges us: Have we come to this decisive point where we say, “Lord, I agree with Your judgment on my old self—I reckon it dead, and I now yield to the life of Your Son in me”? This is not just theological affirmation; it is a personal reckoning, a moral surrender to the reality of union with Christ.

✍🏼 Journal Entry – In the Voice of the Holy Spirit:

You have been crucified with Christ, and the life you now live is not yours to manage or fix but Mine to express. The old self was nailed to the Cross with Jesus—not symbolically but actually—so that sin’s power would be nullified in your experience. You are not a slave anymore.

When you believed, you were placed into His death, buried with Him, and raised to walk in newness of life. This was My doing, not yours. You are not becoming free—you are free. The chains are gone. The prison door stands open, and the guard has been dismissed.

I do not ask you to die daily to sin; I ask you to believe that you have died once and for all in Christ. Your work is to reckon it so. Your peace is found in resting in that reckoning. The pull of the flesh is real, but it no longer defines you. I am your new identity. I dwell in you, and I am Life.

You may still hear the echoes of the old patterns, but do not be deceived—they are not who you are. You are Mine. Christ is your life. And the more you yield to Me, the more that truth becomes the rhythm of your moments. You are not trying to kill sin—it has already been sentenced. You simply agree with the verdict and walk forward in resurrection power.

Live, now, as one alive from the dead.

(Romans 6:1–11, Galatians 2:20, Colossians 3:1–4, 2 Corinthians 5:17)

🙏 Prayer – In My Voice:

Father, thank You that the decision about sin has already been made in Christ. I no longer live under its power or weight, for I have been crucified with Jesus and now walk in the freedom of Your Spirit. What a joy to know that I don’t have to manage my flesh—I can simply agree with You that it is dead and gone, and yield to the life of Your Son within me. I rest today in this beautiful reality: the old me has passed away, and You now live through me. I trust You completely for that.

Amen.
