The Corporate “Me”
"We are one Body—Christ in us, shared among us, moving as one."
In this powerful moment on the road to Damascus, Saul—soon to become Paul—encountered a reality that would upend his entire understanding of God and the people of God. He believed he was defending God's holiness by persecuting heretics, those following the supposed imposter Jesus of Nazareth. But as a sudden light from heaven halted his journey, the voice that spoke did not ask, "Why are you persecuting My followers?" but rather, "Why are you persecuting Me?"
The devotional rightly calls attention to the staggering revelation that Christ so identifies with His people that to persecute them is to persecute Him. This “Me” is not only Jesus personally but Jesus corporately—Jesus in union with every believer. Saul's confrontation with the risen Lord unveiled this mystery: that the Body of Christ is not a metaphor, but a spiritual reality. Believers are not merely imitators of Christ—they are one with Him. This encounter became the theological bedrock of Paul’s ministry, later expressed in the mystery of Christ and the church in Ephesians 5:32.
What Saul encountered was not only a Person but a people in that Person. And in persecuting them, he had unknowingly laid hands on Christ Himself.
Personalized Journal Entry – In the Voice of the Holy Spirit
You are not alone. You are not separate. You have been joined to the risen Lord by My doing. When Christ called you to Himself, I immersed you into Him—into His death and into His life—so that now you are His, and He is yours. You are no longer merely an individual; you are a member of a Body that cannot be severed from its Head.
This is why I moved through Paul with such urgency and clarity. I showed him that to touch a believer was to touch Christ. That to care for the saints is to care for Jesus. And to mock, slander, or oppose My children is to oppose the Lord of glory. You live in Him and He lives in you—inseparably.
I have placed you into Christ, and in doing so, I placed you into His Body. You are one with those who are also in Him—knit together, joined not by external ties but by the shared life of the Son. When you gather with them, encourage them, forgive them, serve them, or even simply listen to them, you are communing with Christ. For what I joined together cannot be pulled apart.
Walk now with this vision. Let it renew your mind and soften your judgments. Let it cause you to see your brothers and sisters not as obstacles to overcome or burdens to bear, but as expressions of Christ Himself. You are part of a great “Me”—and I have placed My life within you, to be shared among you as one.

Prayer
Father, what a wonder—that You have placed me in Christ and made me a member of His Body. Thank You that I no longer live merely as an isolated believer, but as part of a sacred union where Christ is the Head and we are His fullness. You’ve already given me everything I need for life and godliness, including the wisdom to see others through the lens of our shared life in Christ.
I trust You to live this reality through me today—that I would see those around me not just as fellow Christians, but as those who are bound together with me in the Person of Jesus. May I speak with gentleness, act with compassion, and live in awareness that when I love the Body, I love the Son.
