The Boundless Riches of God’s Grace

"In Him we have our redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace…that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus…To me, who am less than the least of all saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable [unfathomable] riches of Christ." – Ephesians 1:7; 2:7; 3:8

Today’s devotional from Day by Day by Grace draws us into the vastness of God’s grace. How often do we underestimate the magnitude of His grace and the limitless supply He extends to us?

The Overflowing Riches of Grace

God’s grace is far more abundant than we can comprehend. When He forgave our sins, He did so "according to the riches of His grace" (Ephesians 1:7). Consider the overwhelming measure of grace it took to remove our guilt and shame. Yet even in this act, God did not exhaust His grace—it remains inexhaustible, ever-flowing, and ready to be poured out upon us.

Paul reminds us in Ephesians 2:7 of the "exceeding riches of His grace," which stretch far beyond our understanding. God’s grace is so infinite that it will take all eternity for Him to fully reveal it to us. His eternal purpose includes lavishing His kindness on all who are in Christ Jesus. Imagine being the recipient of His kindness forever, drawn from the limitless resources of His grace!

The Ocean of Grace: Unsearchable and Unfathomable

To help us picture this boundless grace, we can liken it to an infinite ocean. The oceans of the world, vast as they are, have depths that can be measured. They are immense yet finite. God’s grace, however, is limitless and cannot be fully searched out or fathomed. As Paul proclaimed, he was given the privilege of preaching "the unsearchable [unfathomable] riches of Christ" (Ephesians 3:8).

No matter how much grace we have experienced in Christ, we are only at the beginning of our journey into its depths. The heart of God holds more grace than all the waters of the world combined—a truth that reassures and emboldens us as we live day by day.

A Prayer of Gratitude for God’s Boundless Grace

Father, we marvel at the vastness of Your grace, which is far greater than we can comprehend. Thank You for redeeming us through the riches of Your grace and for continuing to pour out kindness upon us through Christ Jesus. May we walk in awe of this unsearchable grace and rest in the assurance that it is sufficient for every moment of our lives. Amen.
