Solomon Lecture Series, Lecture 25: Exchanged Life and missions
The following post contains some highlights from the twenty fifth lecture in the Solomon Lecture Series, presented by Dr. John Shepherd. The entire lecture series is available, here, at Grace Fellowship International.
- You have to “do evangelism” according to the culture.
- Dr. Shepherd believes the greatest need in the life of a missionary is the message of the exchanged life, that is, the personal application of the cross in their life.
- He sees the lack of passion in the mission field because they are working according to the flesh.
- He believes the worst enemy of the Christian is the flesh.
- It’s important for the minister to determine how to do ministry according to the Spirit versus according to the flesh.
- The new believer is given the fullness of the Holy Spirit in His glory at salvation. We then spend a lifetime without realizing what is already ours in Christ.
- Dr. Shepherd believes that evangelism should come out of discipleship and not the other way around.
