Walking in Prearranged Paths

Inspired by insights from Abide Above

"As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him."
Colossians 2:6

It’s remarkable how easily we embrace the promise of Jesus preparing a place for us in eternity (John 14:2). Yet, we often hesitate to trust that He has also prepared a path for us here and now. As Ephesians 2:10 (AMP) reminds us, we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to walk in the good works He has prearranged for us.

Imagine a gardener who has meticulously designed a beautiful path through a garden. The path winds through vibrant flowers, peaceful streams, and shaded groves. Everything has been thoughtfully prepared for the one who walks it. The gardener invites us to follow this path, not to figure it out as we go but to simply trust and walk where it leads.

This is the life God has prepared for us. He has not left us to wander aimlessly or strive for blessings. Instead, He has already blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ (Ephesians 1:3). These blessings aren’t future promises—they are present realities, waiting for us to believe and appropriate by faith.

But how often do we stop at the edge of the garden, asking God to create a path that is already laid before us? We cry out for blessings He has already given, forgetting that His work is complete. The Christian walk is not about earning or striving but about receiving and resting in what God has already accomplished.

Living in the Prearranged Path

To walk in the path God has prepared is to trust Him completely. This walk requires that we stop striving in our own strength and rely on the life of Christ within us. As Colossians 2:6 says, the same way we received Christ—by faith—is how we are to walk in Him daily.

When challenges arise, they are not roadblocks but opportunities to remember that the path was prearranged by a loving Father who knows what we need. Each step is part of His design, drawing us closer to Him and revealing His goodness.

A Prayer of Trust

Father,
Thank You for preparing every step of my journey and for blessing me with all I need in Christ. I trust that the path You have laid before me is good, no matter the terrain. You are faithful to guide me, and I rest in the truth that I lack nothing because of what You have already provided. May I walk today with confidence, not striving for what is already mine but receiving it with gratitude. I rejoice in the life You have prearranged for me and trust You to lead me in it. In Christ, Amen.

Final Thought

The garden path is not one we must create but one we are invited to follow. The blessings, the peace, and the strength for the journey are already provided. Let’s take each step with faith, knowing the Gardener has prepared it all in love.
