Living by Grace: Resting in His Ability

"The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all…For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ…And God is able to make all grace abound toward you."
Revelation 22:21; 2 Corinthians 8:9; 9:8

The Christian life is not a system to master or a technique to perfect—it is a life lived in union with a Person. The grace we need for every moment flows from Christ Himself, not from our own striving. When Paul repeatedly closes his letters with "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all," it is no mere formality. It is a divine reminder that every step of our journey must be sustained by the life of Christ within us.

Yet, how often do we shift our focus inward? We measure ourselves by our ability—Will I be able to please God? Will I be strong enough to walk this path? But Scripture directs our eyes elsewhere: "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think" (Ephesians 3:20). The question is not Can I? but Will I trust Him who is able?

A tree does not strain to bear fruit. Its role is simply to remain rooted in the soil that supplies all it needs. Likewise, the grace that transforms us is not accessed through our own ability but by resting in the One whose grace abounds toward us. If we are willing to trust Him, He will work in and through us beyond what we could ever imagine.

Prayer of Confidence

Father, I rejoice that Your grace is not a reward for effort but a gift found in Christ alone. Thank You that my life in You does not depend on my strength but on Your sufficiency. I trust You to express Your life in me today, knowing that You are able to do all that is needed. Let my heart remain fixed on You, the source of every good thing. Amen.
