Look, there He is, through the mist—do you see Him?
Introduction to "Look, There He Is!"
This poem is written in honor of a precious brother in Christ whose life has been a radiant testimony of unwavering focus on Jesus. Inspired by the book we are currently reviewing in this blog, A.W. Tozer’s Knowledge of the Holy, the poem weaves together Tozer’s reflections on God’s attributes. Each stanza explores a unique aspect of God’s nature, drawing us deeper into awe, love, and trust. The poem builds with an expectancy that mirrors our own journeys of faith—beginning with glimpses of His majesty through the mists of life’s trials and culminating in the joy of finally seeing Him in all His splendor.
It is my prayer that this poem will not only honor my brother’s life and faith but also inspire you to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. No matter the mist or storm that clouds your vision, He is there—unchanging, sufficient, and sovereign. And one day, as promised, we will all see Him clearly, face to face.
May this call to behold Him lead you into deeper worship and trust, just as it has encouraged my own heart.
Look, there He is, through the mist—do you see Him?
Through the mist of faith, I’ve walked these years,
Believing His promises despite doubts or fears.
Not by sight, yet His truth has sustained,
His presence unwavering, His grace uncontained.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
The Trinity, holy, unbroken, complete,
Father, Son, Spirit, in unity meet.
Three in One, the mystery profound,
In love eternal, our hope is found.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
The Self-existent One, with no source but His own,
Uncreated, eternal, the cornerstone.
Before all began, He simply was—
The great I AM, the eternal cause.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
Self-sufficient, needing nothing at all,
Yet seeking us, who are weak and small.
He gives from His fullness, abundant and free,
The fountain of life for you and me.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
The eternal One, beyond time’s span,
The Alpha, Omega—the great "I AM."
A thousand years are as a day,
His kingdom reigns forever to stay.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
Infinite in power, wisdom, and might,
His ways beyond measure, His glory so bright.
The heavens declare His vast domain,
His greatness forever will always remain.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
Unchanging, steadfast, forever secure,
The same yesterday, today, and always sure.
While life is fleeting and seasons fade,
He is the Rock that does not sway.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
All-knowing, with wisdom beyond our grasp,
He sees the future, the present, the past.
Not a sparrow falls outside His care,
And in His sight, we are always there.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
All-wise, His plans beyond what we see,
In perfect harmony, His will must be.
Every trial, every tear He redeems,
Working all things for His eternal schemes.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
All-powerful, sovereign, the King of kings,
Who speaks and the heavens and earth spring.
No storm can defy Him, no darkness remain,
His omnipotence breaks every chain.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
Transcendent and holy, beyond our reach,
Yet near to the humble, His love to teach.
Though high above, He stoops so low,
To lift us up, His heart to show.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
Present in all, yet distinct and pure,
No place is hidden, His presence is sure.
He fills the heavens, the earth, and the sea,
Wherever I go, He’s there with me.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
Faithful and true, His promises hold,
In every trial, His love unfolds.
When I faltered, His mercy remained,
Through every season, His goodness sustained.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
Goodness overflowing, abundant and kind,
His gifts unending, His heart aligned.
He gives to His children, withholds no good thing,
The Shepherd who leads us, our hearts to sing.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
Just and righteous, with a scepter of grace,
Defender of truth, the oppressor’s disgrace.
In Him, there is equity, fairness, and peace,
His justice forever shall never cease.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
Mercy abounding, forgiving our shame,
He bore our burden, He took our blame.
His compassion flows like a mighty stream,
Restoring our hearts, fulfilling the dream.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
Grace upon grace, unearned and free,
A gift so lavish, for you and me.
When we were lost, His love pursued,
His grace abundant, our lives renewed.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
Love unending, so deep, so wide,
Displayed on the cross where the Savior died.
Nothing can separate, nothing destroy,
His perfect love, our eternal joy.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
Holy and radiant, pure and divine,
His glory unblemished, forever shines.
In awe, we bow, in worship, we sing,
The holiness of our mighty King.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
Sovereign and reigning, His plans prevail,
No force can thwart, no power assail.
The King eternal, His throne secure,
His sovereign rule will always endure.
Look, there He is—do you see Him?
Through shadows of pain, through each fragile breath,
He walked with me gently through life into death.
Not a step was alone; He was faithful to stay,
And now the mist fades—I see Him this day.
Oh! Look—there He is! The mist fades away!
His face shines brighter than the break of day.
So much more magnificent, so beautiful to see,
Beyond what I imagined, His glory calls to me.
I’m home with my Savior, for all eternity!
