Freed from the Law, Alive in Christ
*Inspired by insights from Day by Day by Grace
"Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor."
— Galatians 3:24-25
Imagine standing at the base of a towering mountain. A guide stands beside you, pointing upward, explaining the dangers of the climb and the impossibility of reaching the summit on your own. This guide warns, instructs, and corrects, but offers no hand to carry you upward. That guide is like the law—pointing to the summit of holiness, love, and perfection, but incapable of lifting us to those heights.
The law reveals our need: Be holy. Yet, we are not.
Be loving. Yet, we fall short.
Be perfect. Yet, we fail.
In its holy demands, the law becomes our guide, showing us the impossible climb and declaring, "You need Jesus."
But now, for those who have placed their faith in Christ, the guide steps aside. The One who can carry us—Jesus—takes our hand and lifts us where we could never go on our own. The burden of fulfilling holiness, love, and perfection no longer rests on our frail shoulders. Christ is now our life, our holiness, our love, and our perfection.
The law pointed us to Jesus, and now, in Him, we live free. We don’t strive to be holy—Christ is our holiness. We don’t strain to be loving—the Spirit naturally bears love within us. We don’t exhaust ourselves chasing perfection—God Himself is completing His good work in us.
What a gift it is to no longer live under the weight of the law but to walk in the life Christ freely gives!
A Prayer of Confidence in Christ's Sufficiency
Father,
Thank You for setting me free from the demands of the law and for bringing me into the fullness of life in Christ. I trust completely that Jesus is my holiness, my love, and my perfection. You have already provided everything I need to walk in Your ways. I rest in Your ongoing work within me, confident that You are completing what You have begun. Let my life reflect the freedom and joy that come from living in Christ. In His perfect name, Amen.
Final Thought
Like stepping off a narrow path onto a solid bridge, we no longer struggle under the weight of the law. Jesus has become everything we need. Let us walk confidently, trusting that He who carries us will bring us safely to the summit.
