Created for Him: The Freedom of Belonging to Christ
"You were created through Him—and for Him. Rest in that."
Scripture Focus: Colossians 1:16
There are some verses we’ve read or heard a hundred times, and then one day—through the Spirit’s quiet work—they explode with meaning. That happened to me recently with Colossians 1:16: "All things were created through Him and for Him."
I’ve always marveled at the "through Him" part. Christ as the agent of creation—the One through whom galaxies were spoken into being and unseen realms shaped—has always filled me with awe. But it was the second half of the verse that pierced my heart last week: "and for Him."
That includes me. I was created for Him. And so were you.
I don’t exist for myself. I’m not here to define my purpose or chase personal significance. I was designed for His purposes, His delight, His glory. And far from being a burden, that realization filled me with the deepest joy and security I’ve known. It dissolved the last lingering illusions that I need to carve out my own identity or prove my worth.
Five years ago, I entered into the exchanged life—I stopped trying to live for God in my own strength and surrendered to Christ as my life. Yet it wasn’t until this past week that the phrase "created for Him" truly came alive in me. And everything about life began to look different.
I don’t need to understand all the details of my calling. My role is simple: yield to Him moment by moment, so His Spirit can fulfill His purposes in and through me. I’m not the author. I’m the vessel. That’s the freedom and beauty of belonging to Christ.
And that belonging isn’t fragile. I was chosen before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4), bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:20), and now I live and die to the Lord (Romans 14:8). Whether my circumstances are joyful or difficult, the foundation doesn't change: I was created for Him.
That truth makes me secure. It makes me worship. And it frees me from needing to grasp for meaning. I already have it—in Him.
Journal Entry in the Holy Spirit’s Voice Through Scripture
I knit you together with intention.
I created you through My Son, and I created you for Him.
You were never meant to live apart from this truth.
You are not random. You are not overlooked. You are Mine.
You were not made to live for yourself, but to display My glory, to rest in My love, and to carry My grace into a world aching for Me.
I do not ask you to figure out your purpose. I ask you to yield to the One who lives in you.
Let His life be your life. Let His peace be your anchor. Let His purposes unfold as you rest in His presence.
You are not your own.
You are Mine.
And I delight in you.

Prayer of Trust
Father, I praise You for the glorious truth that I was created for Your Son. I rest in the joy that I no longer need to strive for identity or fabricate purpose. You formed me with intention, and You now fulfill Your purposes in me through the Spirit of Christ.
I gladly yield today—not with reluctance, but with joy. I trust that Your life in me is enough. You have made me Yours. And that is more than enough.
Amen.
