Christ the Lion

Christ, the triumphant Lion, lies at rest—His victory is ours to share.

This morning’s devotional from eManna paints a vivid picture of Christ not merely as our Savior, but as the triumphant, resting Lion of Judah. The lion imagery drawn from Genesis 49 and Revelation 5 invites us to see Christ not just in His power but in His posture—victorious and at rest. He descends from the mountain, seizes His prey, and ascends again in full dominion. What is His prey? All that once hunted us—anger, sin, weakness, fear, shame. Once devoured, these enemies no longer roar in our ears. Christ has overcome them, and now He couches, satisfied.

The devotional draws us into a deeper realization: that our rest is found in Christ's rest. He is not pacing or anxious; He is lying down, settled in victory. So why should we strive or panic when He is perfectly at ease, having already finished the battle? The takeaway is both simple and freeing: our experience of peace is not in fighting harder but in seeing Christ seated, content, and enthroned—and in choosing to rest with Him there.

Journal Entry — In the Voice of the Holy Spirit

You have seen the Lion rise. From the heights of heaven He descended—not in fury toward you but in justice against all that enslaved you. He crouched not in hesitation, but in purposeful stillness, prepared to pounce upon the strongholds that bound your soul. And when He rose again, He did not carry shame or defeat in His jaws, but triumph—your enemies now prey beneath His feet.

He has swallowed up wrath and weakness. He has devoured condemnation and clothed you in righteousness. There is no fear, no temper, no secret chain that has not already met its end in Him. As surely as the prey was taken, so surely has your past been silenced.

Now look—see Him couching in rest. The Lion is not agitated, and neither are you. You are in Him. Where He rests, you rest. Where He reigns, you reign. You are not called to rouse Him with your worry, but to recline beside Him in the assurance that all has been made subject to Him.

So, breathe. Your position is not one of prey, but of one seated in the victory of the Lion. Rejoice with trembling awe. The One who conquered your enemies is the One who now calls you to live in His rest.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Lion of Judah, I rejoice in Your victory that has become my rest. You have already dealt with everything that once held me captive, and now I see You—reigning and reclining in peace. I refuse to entertain what You have already conquered. I choose instead to draw near to You, the resting Lion, and take my seat beside You in quiet confidence. Let my life reflect Your settled dominion—not striving, not chasing, but abiding in the triumph You’ve already secured.
