Built by Grace, Destined for Glory

The grace of God is not only the means by which we receive an eternal inheritance but also the very force that builds and sustains us as we walk through this life. Acts 20:32 reminds us that God's grace is able to build us up and give us an inheritance among those who are sanctified. This inheritance is not something we strive to earn, but rather something we receive as members of God’s family, having been born into His kingdom by faith in Christ.

An inheritance is granted by birthright, not by personal achievement. Just as a child in a royal household does nothing to merit the wealth or privilege they inherit, so too do believers receive the riches of God's kingdom solely by His grace. As children of God, we are made heirs of an eternal treasure that far surpasses any earthly possession—fellowship with the Lord, the joy of His presence, and the fullness of life in His kingdom. Romans 8:17 affirms this truth, declaring that we are heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ. This reality is ours not because of our efforts, but because we have been born into His family through faith.

Yet grace is not only about the future; it is the power that works within us today. The same grace that secures our inheritance also builds us up, shaping and strengthening us for a life of fruitfulness. Colossians 2:6-7 describes this process as being “rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith.” The imagery of being rooted speaks of deep spiritual hunger and trust, as a tree extends its roots into the soil for nourishment. The deeper the roots, the stronger the tree stands against the storms of life.

Imagine an ancient oak tree standing firm on a hillside. Over the years, its roots have gone deep, intertwining with the earth, drawing strength and sustenance unseen to the eye. Though storms come and winds rage, the tree remains steadfast, its strength drawn not from its branches or leaves but from the depth of its roots. This is what God's grace accomplishes in us—building our lives on the firm foundation of Christ so that we are not swayed by the trials and uncertainties of life.

This process of being built up is not accomplished through self-effort or religious striving but through the continual work of God's grace within us. It is His grace that strengthens, nurtures, and edifies. As we yield to His work in our lives, we are transformed from the inside out, growing in stability, maturity, and faith. Even our ministry to others is an extension of this grace, as we pursue that which builds up and edifies those around us (Romans 14:19).

God’s grace is both the architect and the builder of our lives. It secures our future and transforms our present, shaping us into vessels fit for His kingdom. We stand today in the assurance of His unshakable promises, knowing that His grace is more than sufficient to complete what He has begun.

Prayer of Trust

Father, Your grace has given us an inheritance beyond measure, and we rejoice in the certainty of all that awaits us in Your presence. Thank You for securing our place as heirs with Christ, not by our own efforts but by the gift of new birth in Your family. As we walk this journey, we trust in Your grace to build us up, rooting us deeply in You and establishing us in faith. May our lives reflect the work of Your hands, bearing fruit that glorifies You and edifies those around us. We rest in the certainty that what You have begun, You will bring to completion. Amen.

Final Thought

The grace that secures our inheritance is the same grace that builds us up daily. Just as an oak stands firm because of its deep roots, so too do we stand strong in faith as we are rooted in Christ, upheld not by our own strength but by His unfailing grace.
