Arise, Let Us Go Hence
We often cherish those moments when God speaks to us, revealing His will, His desires, and His calling upon our lives. There’s a temptation, however, to linger in those moments indefinitely—meditating, reflecting, contemplating—but never stepping forward in obedience. Jesus, after pouring out deep spiritual truths to His disciples, didn’t tell them to sit and ponder. He said, "Arise, let us go hence." (John 14:31). There is a time to be still before the Lord, but there is also a time to move.
Faith is not passive; it is active trust. When God speaks, His words carry the authority and provision to accomplish what He has commanded. To hesitate, to dwell in endless contemplation after He has already given direction, is not spiritual but a subtle form of distrust. Like a musician who has spent years mastering their instrument, there comes a moment when they must step onto the stage and play. They don’t continue practicing forever, waiting until they feel ready enough—they trust what has been ingrained in them and step forward.
Jesus has already spoken. His Spirit is within us, empowering us. We have no lack, no deficiency. When He calls us forward, we do not need to manufacture our own strength or map out every detail before we obey. We walk by faith, knowing that He is the One who works in us, both to will and to do for His good pleasure (Philippians 2:13).
Reflection Questions:
Has God already made something clear to you that you have been delaying in obedience?
Are you mistaking hesitation for wisdom, when in reality, it is fear or uncertainty?
How can you step forward in faith today, trusting that God has already provided everything necessary for what He has called you to do?
Prayer of Trust
Father, thank You for the clarity of Your voice and the certainty of Your guidance. You have spoken, and Your Spirit within me is the source of all wisdom and direction. I reject passivity and hesitation, knowing that You have fully equipped me for every good work. As I step forward today, I do so in confidence—not in my own abilities, but in the unfailing reality of Christ’s life within me. Your grace is sufficient, and I trust You as I walk in obedience. Amen.
