A Soul Ready to Say, “Here I Am”
“Even the quietest paths are ablaze with His presence when we’re ready to walk them.”
In today’s reflection, Oswald Chambers challenges the romantic notion that readiness is merely about waiting for grand assignments from God. Instead, true readiness is shown in our awareness of where we are now—of being fully present and aligned with God in the ordinary places He has placed us. Moses didn’t cry out, “Send me somewhere better,” or “Tell me the plan first.” He simply responded to God’s call from the burning bush with the words, “Here I am.”
Too often, we want to be used for something remarkable, but overlook the sacredness of the small and obscure. Readiness isn’t about mustering up enthusiasm for the spectacular—it’s a quiet, alert willingness for whatever the Father brings, be it great or small, joyful or unpleasant. Readiness means the soul is not scrambling to prepare when God moves—it’s already available, already listening, already yielded. The bush didn’t announce its blaze ahead of time. The moment appeared, and Moses was attentive enough to turn aside and see.
Are we too busy planning our futures or lamenting our pasts to notice the bush aflame beside us today?
⬩ Personalized Journal Entry in the Holy Spirit’s Voice Through Scripture
I dwell with you now. You need not look beyond this moment to know My presence or hear My voice. Be still. I have placed you exactly where you are—not by accident, not by oversight, but in love and wisdom for My divine purposes.
You are My workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works that I have already prepared for you to walk in. Do not measure the worth of a moment by its visibility or applause. I delight in obedience born of love, whether seen or unseen.
As the Son did nothing of Himself but only what He saw the Father doing, so I call you to be attuned—not striving for greatness, but responding with availability. Say to Me now with a willing heart, “Here I am,” and know that I am the One who works in you both to will and to do for My good pleasure.
I am the same One who called Moses from the bush and the same One who calls you now—not to a destination first, but to a relationship. Your calling is not about being somewhere else or doing something else. Your calling is to be Mine, fully Mine, right here.
Let your soul be always dressed, always ready, with your lamp burning. Stay watchful, not anxious. Stay available, not ambitious. The moments I give you are ablaze with My presence—even if they seem routine to the world. You are seated with Christ, hidden with Him in Me. I will never forsake you, and I will be glorified in your quiet yes.

⬩ My Prayer
Lord, I don’t want to be someone You have to call twice. Thank You for already making me ready in Christ—seated, secure, and listening. I trust You to live Your life through me today, in whatever task You appoint, whether small or grand. Let me be found alert, content, and eager to respond. You’re not asking for heroics—You’re inviting me to simply walk in love and trust, moment by moment. So I say it with joy: Here I am.
